Chatham is located on the southeast corner of Cape Cod, with Harwich to the west, Orleans to the north, Nantucket Island to the south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Chatham is actually divided into several different villages – Chatham proper, Chatham Port, as well as North, South and West Chatham. The Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, located on Monomoy Island, comprises a large portion of Chatham. The Refuge, which is made up of over 7,600 acres of protected land, extends southward towards Nantucket. As with other Cape communities, Chatham’s population explodes in the summer to more than 30,000. Tourists from both near and far flock to Chatham to enjoy its many beaches, restaurants, shops and landmarks. Chatham is among the more upscale communities on Cape Cod.
